Free navigation at Cap Ferrat (September to May)

For independent practitioners: kayaking, paddleboarding, catamaran sailing, Laser sailing or windsurfing, at your own pace.

Do you know how to sail and want to go out whenever you want, without booking every time or depending on group lessons? The CVM Nautical Center's open sailing program is for you. Open sailing is available year-round. Subject to availability during the week in summer. Weekends or evenings are recommended.

Three durations to choose from, depending on your pace: 1 month (introductory option) , 3 months (seasonal option) , or a full year (the option for dedicated sailors). Two equipment categories: sailing (catamaran, Laser, windsurfing) at €85/month or €600/year, and paddleboarding/kayaking at €45/month or €350/year. Club membership and the mandatory FFV (French Sailing Federation) license are additional.

It's an ideal option for residents of the Nice or Monaco area who sail regularly, or for retirees in Cap Ferrat who want to stay active by the sea. The perfect time to go: the French Riviera in the off-season often offers ideal sailing conditions and far fewer crowds.

How does free navigation work?

You arrive at the club during opening hours, ask our team about the equipment you're interested in, they'll confirm availability and the weather. Then you head out sailing. When you return, the equipment will be rinsed and stored by our team. No advance reservations: it's first come, first served. If several people want the same boat on the same day, we'll work something out.

Free navigation means autonomy. Instructors can help users set up their equipment the first few times, but after that, it will be up to them to equip and pack it away. Navigation is permitted during club opening hours and after instructor approval. Please be vigilant: avoid straying from the designated route to allow for a quick response if needed. During the summer months, weekends are recommended.

Why the formula works in the off-season

From July to August, the club is so busy with training courses and tourist rentals that free sailing is not possible. From September onwards, the pace slows down and equipment becomes available.

The off-season on the French Riviera (September-May) often offers exceptional sailing conditions: mild temperatures, steady winds, calmer seas, and a stunning setting without the crowds. It's our favorite season.
